Amelia and Blair met the old-fashioned way. No apps or swipes, just a chance encounter at a university party in September 2017. Soon after that first meeting, they ran into each other again at a classic Ottawa establishment, Lieutenant's Pump, when their friend groups went for a night out on the town. With some liquid courage and his undeniable charisma, Blair directly asked Amelia, “You wanna go on a date?”

Not long after, they became inseparable. Within a few months, Amelia had unofficially moved into the infamous Haig Drive house, quietly claiming a drawer in the dresser. But she didn’t come empty handed and often brought takeout after every weekend shift, and before long, weekends with Blair (and his roommates Nico and Riley) became her favourite part of the week.

Almost eight years later, not much has changed. They’ve been partners through multiple jobs, a few degrees, a pandemic, buying a condo together, and many other unpredictable life moments that they’re grateful they had each other for.
